CAPACITOR

Is an electrical component which is used to store energy by keeping electrical charge on their plates.                                                                                                                                                 When the negatively charged conductor is connected on the ground,the negative charge flow from the conductor to the earth similar a positively charged conductor would receive an electron from the ground,                                                                                                                                               These electron flow because of potential different between the conductor and the earth.Consider the electrical device like Radio when the power is switched off the power lamp fades out slowly and the stereo has its sound playing for some second after power is switched off,This is because the electrical energy is being stored in these devices and as the result the electronic appliances then continued to being supplied with it.                                                                                                                                                  Capacitor is mostly used in computer,radio and other electronic devices.A full charged capacitor has a positive charge on one plate and an equal negative charge on the other side.                                                   CAPACITANCE.Is the ratio between the charged conductor and the potential difference across the plates of the conductor.                                                                                                                                                       TYPES OF CAPACITOR                                                                                                                 There different types of capacitor as explained below                                                                                                                                      1.VARIABLE CAPACITOR.In this variable capacitor air form the insulating material so the capacitance of such a device is altered by changing the overlapping area between the plates and its mostly used in tuning the radio sets.A variable capacitor its also known as air filled capacitor this because the semiconductor plates are separated by air.One sets of plates is fixed while the other one rotate.                                                                                                                                            2.MICA CAPACITOR.Is the type of capacitor in which the sheet of metal foil are separated by the strips of mica.Mica is preferred because of its nature in mineral and split easily into very thin sheet                                                                                                                                             3.PAPER OR PLASTIC CAPACITOR Is types of capacitor which have metal foil strips as their conductor.Waxed paper form the insulating material and the polyester film can also be used as the separating material which are rolled up together and sealed up inside a metal box so as to moisture from entering.
